Some FAQ

What is web hosting?

Consider Hosting as a "host", which is a company that makes your website available on the Internet. Web hosting is like your home. If someone visits your blog (types in the URL), they will be able to see everything inside.

What is the cost of web hosting?

With a quality web hosting provider like Bluehost, web hosting is affordable at around $5/mo or even less. A reliable hosting company is essential to your blog's success.

Which web hosting provider is the best?

A WordPress blog hosted by Bluehost is the combination of a blogging platform and web hosting that most bloggers use. Another great alternative is Hostinger.

WordPress, a free publishing platform, has been in existence since 2003.

It powers over 60% of all blogs online. Bluehost is a trusted and established company in the blog hosting business.

This is the combination we will use to launch your blog. Let's now get our hosting setup.

The Start: Get Your Blog Online

Select your plan

The actual first step is to choose a hosting plan for your blog.

We personally recommend the Choice Plus plan as it includes Domain Privacy and many other benefits and additional features.

This will prevent your personal information (your full names, phone numbers, and home addresses) from being published online.

This is how you will choose your plan.

Simply click the "Select" blue button to choose your plan.

As we've mentioned above, we recommend the Choice Plus plan to get the Domain Privacy feature.

However, any of these plans will work as long as you start your blog.

You can also add the domain privacy later during the checkout process for $1/mo.

Choose your blog's domain name

Next, you will reach the page where you can choose your domain name for your blog.

When you reach this stage in the checkout process you will need to enter the domain name you would like for your blog (ours is digipith.com).

You can try another domain name if your preferred domain name is not available. Or, (what we recommend), choose the option to select your domain name later after you have set up the rest of the account and taken some time to think about the name.

If you are still not sure what name to choose for your blog, we will provide more information in this guide.

This is where you can click to select I'll create my domain later.

Register for your Bluehost account

Fill in your account details, including your name, email address (it is really important to use your current email address as this will be where you'll receive all your login and other important information.

You can link your Bluehost account to your Google account if you don't mind entering your information manually. Both options work!

Choose the best hosting package

Here you can choose the account plan you would like to have.

Bluehost offers only options to pay upfront for 1 or 3 years. Bluehost doesn't offer a monthly payment option as most hosting companies charge more for monthly payments.

The price is still a great deal to start your blog and get it online, regardless of which plan you choose.

Which pricing plan would be best for starting a blog?

If you are looking to get the best price on your hosting, we recommend the "36 Month Price".

This is what we use. It secures your blog hosting at the lowest price (and gives you domain privacy for the next three years).

This low pricing is only available to new customers. If you choose the 1-year plan, the pricing could go up after the first year.

This is why the 36-month plan will lock in your pricing for three years, even though the monthly pricing is slightly bigger ($7.45 vs. $5.45).

Therefore, we recommend choosing the longest plan you can afford.

You can skip all the Package Extras, you'll be fine with just Codeguad Basic at this point.

ree

The domain privacy protects your personal information (name, address, phone number, and email) by keeping it private. This is not listed here, but you get that with the Choice Plus plan.

Your Domain Privacy Protection will not be "Free" if you choose the Basic or the Plus plan. It's part of that plan.

Although, you can add Domain Privacy Protection to any Basic or Plus Plan for $1/mo.

You'll see the total amount that you will pay today. Depending on which package you choose, you won't have to pay again for 1 or 3 years.

You also have a 30-day guarantee of your blog's success if things do not go according to plan.

Fill in the billing information

ree

Next, enter your billing information and check the box to confirm that you have read and agreed to Bluehost's Terms of Service.

Finally, click the green "Submit" button.

It's time to celebrate!

This is the final step towards starting a blog.

Now that you have completed the initial signup, it is time to get your blog set up and optimized.

The next page will guide you step-by-step through how to install WordPress on your blog via Bluehost.

Click here and go to Bluehost to register your domain, if you have not done so already.

If you don't have a web hosting account and are interested in other web hosting options, there are a number of other providers that may be worth looking into.

Hosting Alternatives: Hostinger

ree

Hostinger is one of the fastest-growing hosting providers in the market.

You can check our detailed review about them and decide if they are a better fit for you. They are also a good choice for Wordpress blog hosting and their price is still really competitive.

Now that we have covered the steps in getting your blog online let's look at getting stuff ready on Wordpress.
